Midterm Reminder Art

Students:

Reminder -- you need to know how to write compare and contrasting ideas.  This will certainly be on your Midterm; hence, check out the sample writing below ( based on two different works of art )

Sample Student Compare and Contrast Writing

There are two sculptures that my partner and I compared and constrasted.  Mostly, we compared and contrasted tone, art elements lines, shapes , color, and theprinicple named emphasis.  One finding was very interesting and unique.  From the Yoruba tribe's people in Africa, they created sculptures with a frightening and mysterious tone; whereas in the Claes Oldenburg's sculpture, the tone seems thoughtful because ...In the Yoruba sculpture, there are many different lines such as cris-cross, dots, and vertical lines.  This sculpture also has circles, trinalge, and rectangular shapes.  To add, it also has warm colors such as orange, yellow, and light brown (with some black and white); in all, this give a feeling of .....
While in Oldenburg's sculpture, there are thin strong "V" and bent lines, oval, circle, and oblique and "V" shapes.  The prominent color here is dark brown, which give a sense of ...
The art principle "emphasis" was compared and found that in the Yoruba sculpture, the horse and warrior were emphasized because it is made of the warm light colors which makes it more eye-catching.  And, in the Claes Oldenberg's sculpture, the wholesculpture itself is emphasized because of the ordinary idea, yet really unique and modern look.  In all, we conclude that both artists were successful in sculpturing as seen in the "Yoruba Headdress for the Masquarade," and Claes oldenburg's "OrdinaryClothspin."
